“Field” is one of the projects I carried out while regularly visiting Sapporo Municipal Hokuyo Elementary School as part of “Otodoke Art,” an artist-in-school program organized by AIS Planning. Through “Otodoke Art,” I created work from August to December while engaging with the school and its students.
The school’s playground, located in an area where many roads intersect, is shaped somewhat like a triangle, and the soccer field where the students play is not rectangular but slightly bent. Inspired by this, the work realizes new soccer field shapes imagined by the students themselves, made with their help, on which they then actually play soccer.
